Duke (+15) over Miami

The ‘Canes are rolling on the heels of three straight wins and, well, Duke just lost to Pittsburgh by 42 points. That is the recipe for an inflated number, and backers of the Blue Devils will be the beneficiary. We saw what Duke was capable of in the upset over UNC, but this is more of a fade of Miami than anything else. Brad Kaaya and this offense are dangerous, but the extra point or two give me enough pause to take the dog. This is probably my least favorite play of the week, but I feel pretty good.

Rice (+36) over Stanford

If you want to get weird on Saturday night, here’s your chance. I could’ve given you Auburn (and the points) against Alabama, but we’re rolling with Rice instead. Make no mistake, Rice is a bad football team that should be a huge underdog on the road at Stanford, but the Cardinal aren’t exactly the most explosive offensive bunch. David Shaw’s team has scored more than 36 points just once this season (against Oregon’s horrid defense) and the Cardinal have no incentive to run up the score in this spot. If Rice can get to double-digits, this should be a cover and I’m betting that they will be able to do just that.
