High Value SG

Victor Oladipo-Oklahoma City Thunder (5,900): After a slow start, Oladipo seems to be settling in well to his new home with the Thunder. He has at least 27.8 fantasy points in each of his last five games including three games with over 30 and even 49.5-fantasy-point performance against the Rockets. Tonight, he gets a good matchup as OKC heads to Denver where they’ll face a Nuggets team that is allowing the most fantasy points per game in the NBA to opposing SG by a wide margin. I expect a high-scoring game in the Mile High City with Oladipo providing good value for a player under 6K.∗∗∗∗

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope-Detroit Pistons (4,900): Caldwell-Pope is a boom-or-bust play tonight as the Pistons host the Clippers who routed them in LA two and a half weeks ago. KCP had just a single point and 2.2 fantasy points in that contest, but since then he has at least 24 fantasy points in six of his nine games. He has scored over 20 points in each of his last two games posting 30.2 and 32 fantasy points against the Rockets and Heat. Since he’s still carrying more of the scoring load while Reggie Jackson is out, Caldwell-Pope has the highest ceiling of any SG under 5K tonight even though he definitely comes with some risk.

Jordan Clarkson-Los Angeles Lakers (4,900): Another option I like just under 5K tonight is the Lakers’ Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson played 29 minutes against the Warriors on Wednesday finishing with 16 points and 23.6 fantasy points. He has at least 21 fantasy points in six of his last seven games, and he could get extra playing time tonight since D’Angelo Russell is already out and now Nick Young is also questionable. With Russell sidliend for a few weeks, Clarkson should be a solid option as long as his price is affordable. ∗∗

E’Twaun Moore-New Orleans Pelicans (4,400): Moore has continued to start for the Pelicans and has scored in double-digits in four of his last five games and eight of his last ten. He had 21.6 fantasy points in 25 minutes on Wednesday and finds ways to contribute even though his time is getting a little squeezed by the return of Jrue Holiday. Moore isn’t quite as sure to get minutes as KCP, but he hasn’t had burns that are as bad as the Pistons starting SG has put up.

Hollis Thompson-Philadelphia 76ers (3,500): There aren’t any great bargains that jump out at SG based on expected playing time tonight. One option that I do like, though, at under 4K is Hollis Thompson of the 76ers. Thompson got the start and played 27 minutes on Wednesday finishing with 17.1 fantasy points. He has at least 17 fantasy points in three of his last five games, and he has had two games over 30 fantasy points earlier this month. He’s a flier with plenty of risk, but if you have to spend the minimum he’s be my pick.
