Notre Dame defensive lineman Jerry Tillery lost his cool and began stomping and kicking USC players.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been playing ugly football all season. On Saturday, their season concluded with an ugly game in the rain against the USC Trojans. To make things even worse, defensive lineman Jerry TIllery lost his cool and did some despicable things on the field.

As USC lineman Ced Ware laid on the field hurt, Tillery proceeded to slightly kick him in the head while walking by. That got everyone scuffling and it was an incredibly dirty play on the field by Tillery. He didn’t stop the rampage there either. After the kick to the head, he would then later step on the leg of Zach Banner.

For what has been a bad year for a program that has issues staying disciplined, this type of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. All of these actions warrant suspensions, but kicking a player when they’re down is absolutely low.

That isn’t to say the entire team is like that as there are a lot of great individuals on the Fighting Irish. However, the actions of one always make the whole look bad and this was not Tillery’s finest moment on the football field. Player safety is an absolute must and there can’t be opponents trying to injure them any further on the field than they already are.
