The 2016 installment of The Game between the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines and the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes was incredible. It went to double overtime with Ohio State winning 30-27 over the Wolverines.
Ohio State needs the Penn State Nittany Lions to lose to the Michigan State Spartans to win the Big Ten East. Here is how the results of the game could impact the Top 10 of the 2017 College Football Playoff rankings.
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Clemson Tigers
- Washington Huskies
- Wisconsin Badgers
- Penn State Nittany Lions
- Oklahoma Sooners
- Michigan Wolverines
- Colorado Buffaloes
- Oklahoma State Cowboys
Alabama would stay at No. 1 if the Crimson Tide either beat Auburn or lose by only one score in the 2016 Iron Bowl. Ohio State would stay at No. 2 by beating Michigan in the Horseshoe on Saturday afternoon.
Clemson would improve to No. 3 by beating the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday evening. Washington would be the No. 4 team since the Huskies beat the Washington State Cougars in the Apple Cup on Friday. The Huskies could move up to No. 3 if Clemson loses to in-state rival South Carolina on Saturday night.
If Wisconsin defeats the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Badgers would be the best two-loss team in the Power 5 and would be No. 5 heading into the 2016 Big Ten Championship against either Penn State or Ohio State. Penn State would be No. 6 if the Nittany Lions knock off the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday evening.
The No. 7 team would be Oklahoma. The Sooners have a major rival in Oklahoma State in the Bedlam Series next weekend to decide the 2016 Big 12 Championship. Michigan would fall all the way to No. 8 after dropping a road game to Ohio State on Saturday.
Should Colorado beat Utah in the Rumble in the Rockies, the Buffaloes would keep the No. 9 spot and would play Washington in the 2016 Pac-12 Championship Game in Santa Clara. The No. 10 team would be Oklahoma State.
