1. He can beat the big schools

As aforementioned, Tom Herman has proven he can beat the big schools. The two big ones that come to mind are wins over Florida State and Oklahoma. Texas fans will love that he has shown his teams can beat Oklahoma.

He’s battle tested against the best programs in the nation and that’s going to go a long way for him. He’s going to get Oklahoma every season along with other fantastic battles inside the conference and some big games outside of the conference as well.

If he can string some marquee wins early and a good record, he’s going to become a popular guy in Austin in a hurry. Being the coach of a powerhouse means showing the other top schools around the nation that you’re serious about being the best.
