ACC Football: Week 14 power rankings
By Jason Parker
I will be more than willing to admit that, for much of the season, I have had not a lot of positive things to say about this particular college football team from Chestnut Hill. I still stand by the fact that they have the worst college football graduate transfer in quarterback Patrick Towles and they should ask for his scholarship money back.
Still, the men from just outside Boston did what they had to do and won the final two games of the regular season to get six wins and can now enjoy the fact that, whether they really deserve it or not, the Eagles are heading to a bowl game.
Speaking of teams getting to the postseason, the men from Raleigh played what might have been their best game of the season. And unlike previous games against teams like Clemson and Florida State where they had late leads, the Wolfpack actually held this one and will be bowling as a result.
To be honest, this is not a .500 team. Running back Matt Dayes is one of the best in the country that no one is really talking about. If this team had been healthy all season, they could have made things quite interesting in the ACC’s Atlantic Division.
Before I get all kinds of hate mail from engineers in the Atlanta area, let me say that keeping the men in yellow at this spot is not a sign of disrespect toward what they did this week. It’s because, quite frankly, I think Georgia is one of the most overrated teams in college football this season.
That being said, kudos to Paul Johnson’s team for finishing the regular season strong and winning five of their last six games to up their bowl selection stock, meaning a trip to Nashville or Jacksonville might be in order instead of heading to Shreveport.
