It has been quite a season for Aaron Jones, who has quietly established himself as one of the best running backs in America. The UTEP redshirt junior put on a show this past weekend, in what could be his final collegiate game. Jones rushed for 301 yards in the team’s Sun Bowl win against North Texas, putting a stamp on the most prolific rushing season in Miners history. With the effort, he became only the second Miner to rush for over 300 yards in a game.

While he may not be known to most college football fans, he is actually the third-leading rusher in the FBS. His 1,773 yards this season set a Miners program record for rushing, as he has come back strong from an injury that robbed him of nearly all last season. In his last four games, Jones has rushed for 837 yards and eight touchdowns, making him one of the best backs in America.

While he may be headed to the NFL after the season, the year he had for the Miners will not soon be forgotten. He went over 200 yards in a game three times, while breaking the 300 mark once. He scored a touchdown in every game but two, as his 17 touchdowns were good for third all-time in a single-season in school history.
