For a time there, it looked like Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey was ruining his draft status with every game. Then, all of a sudden, the junior went on a tear over the last five games of the season, cementing his spot as the best collegiate running back of them all. While he may not be the NFL prospect that Leonard Fournette or Dalvin Cook are, he is sure to make an impact on Sundays next season.

The New England Patriots looked flat on offense this past weekend against the New York Jets, as they had to rely on Malcolm Mitchell to get the job done in the passing game. Their running backs did not do much of anything, and without Rob Gronkowski in the lineup for the majority of the game, they really did not have much of an identity. Drafting a player like McCaffrey would change all that, and would give them an incredible weapon in both the run, and pass game.

McCaffrey is the son of a former NFL player, so he grew up around the game. He is also one of the smartest players in all of college football, and plays with the kind of grit and determination that a head coach like Bill Belichick would love. Based on his recent exploits, he may be gone by the time the Pats draft next April, but he would sure look good behind Tom Brady next season in Foxboro.
