After last night’s mental lapse, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue held a meeting with J.R. Smith.

The reigning NBA champion, Cleveland Cavaliers, haven’t had much to complain about thus far this season, but that all changed last night in Milwaukee. During the Cavs 118-101 defeat at the hands of the Bucks, shooting guard J.R. Smith allowed an easy two points. Sure, Smith has allowed easy layups in the past, but nothing quite like this one.

For a team with aspirations of repeating as champions this season, plays like this are absolutely unacceptable, which caused Tyronn Lue to hold an one-on-one meeting with Smith, according to ESPN.

"“It was an embarrassing moment,” Lue said. “Me and J.R. talked about it. We’re just going to move forward. We had a discussion about it, he felt embarrassed about it. It was an embarrassing play. We talked about it. We’re moving on.”"

Here’s what Smith had to say.

"“Obviously we both know it wasn’t intentional, but it was just a lack of focus,” Smith said after practice Wednesday. “One of the multiple things that compounded onto the loss was just as a team we haven’t been as focused as we previously were. Winning and being who we are has a lot to do with that, but we’ve just got to overcome that and be better as a whole. It starts as individuals and then we can collectively become a group and team and have that mindset.”"

However, after the game when Smith met with the media, he acted as if he didn’t recall the blunder. Instead of taking responsible for his mistake, he deflected the attention, and that didn’t sit well with Lue either.

"“It wasn’t right,” Lue said. “I talked to him about that also. There’s no need for that. Just address the media in the right way, move on. We got our butts kicked (Tuesday) night. Give Milwaukee credit, they came out, they attacked us, they beat us. Now we’ve got to move on.”"

The Cavs will host the Clippers tomorrow night on TNT.
