On Friday night, the Indiana Hoosiers will face off against the SIU Edwardsville Cougars. This will be played at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, IN. It’s among the small handful of games to be played as college basketball heads into the month of December.
Indiana is on fire right now. They’re ranked No. 13, already beat No. 3 Kansas and just topped No. 3 North Carolina, 76-67. This should shoot them into the top 10, making up for the embarrassing and historic loss to Fort Wayne that lowered their ranking.
Against UNC, the Hoosiers got a balanced effort from their starting lineup. In fact, all five of them had double-digit points when the game ended; no one had less than 10 and more than 16. OG Anunoby had the 16 along with five assists and two blocks. He also shot 75-percent from the field. Center Thomas Bryant stood out as well with 12 points and seven rebounds.
The night turned out to be a successful one for Indiana. Soon, they’ll find out how high their poll spot will be, which may even eclipse the top 10.
If the Fort Wayne game taught the Hoosiers anything, though, it’s that they can’t overlook anyone. This includes SIU, who is 4-3 and barely relevant in the college basketball landscape. They should be taken seriously like any other opponent. If they are, then Indiana should have no issue winning on Friday night.
