With the 2017 College Football Playoff being set on Sunday, where will the three games of the 2018 College Football Playoff be played next season?

On Sunday, Dec. 4, we saw the four teams that made it into the 2017 College Football Playoff after having stellar 2016 college football seasons. The two National Semifinal games this year will be the Fiesta Bowl at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale and the Peach Bowl at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The National Championship will be at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

So only fans of four schools can get excited about their teams making the 2017 College Football Playoff. There is always next year for at 128 FBS programs. Where are the 2018 College Football Playoff games being played at the end of next season?

The two National Semifinal games will be the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California and the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana. These were the first two National Semifinal games in the first Playoff back in 2014. Big Ten and Pac-12 schools would prefer to play in the Rose Bowl. ACC, SEC, and some Big 12 schools would prefer to play in the Sugar Bowl. Both of those games will be played on New Year’s Day 2018.

The 2017 National Championship Game will be at brand-new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The winner of the Rose Bowl will play the winner of the Sugar Bowl in Atlanta on Monday, January 8, 2018. This will be the first time Atlanta hosts the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

The National Semifinal games rotate among the New Year’s Six bowls on an alternating three-year basis. The Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl are paired, the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl go together, and the Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl are in tandem.
