Taking a look at where the College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be played and who might be playing in it?
We’re just over a month away from college football being done for another year. Fans are certainly disappointed by that and rightfully so. This 2016 season has been one of the most unpredictable and exciting in recent memory. And it’ll all culminate on Jan. 9, 2017 with the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. If the recent CFP title games have been any indication, it’ll be a fittingly great end to this season.
At conference championship weekend, it’s hard to say that anyone other than the Alabama Crimson Tide is the current favorite. They are one of two undefeated teams remaining in the country and the other is Western Michigan, who predictably hasn’t played anyone this season. Subsequently, the Tide seem like near locks to make it to the final game of the year.
Then things get far more interesting. You’re talking about five other teams (perhaps more) with a legitimate claim to occupy the other three spots in the College Football Playoff. Conference championship wins help, but you also have teams like Ohio State and Michigan that didn’t make it to their conference title game. It’s about to get wild.
As you prepare yourself for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, though, you may be wondering where it’ll be played. In case you’d like to try and go or just to see which team would have an advantage, it’s good to know.

On Jan. 9, the College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. That’s the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where this game will be played.
Considering that Bama is expected to be there if they win in either the Peach or Fiesta Bowl, that could work in their favor. It’s still a little hike, but Tuscaloosa isn’t too far from Tampa. Not that the Tide need another advantage with the team they have, though.
