Wisconsin is flexing their offensive muscles over Penn State in the Big Ten Championship Game thanks to their workhorse running back Corey Clement.

Going into the Big Ten Championship Game, many people were favoring Wisconsin to win, and understandably so. They had one of the toughest schedules in the country, and navigated through it tremendously, on the back of their tremendous defense. But there were some questions, particularly regarding their offensive unit.

Penn State is a potent offensive team, and one that might be tough to stop regularly. But the way the Badgers are playing, they’re hardly even seeing the field. Already up 7-0, Corey Clement extended their lead to another score on this amazing 67-yard touchdown run:

"You know you want to see this again. It’s @CoreyClement_6 going 67 yards for the @BadgerFootball TD. https://t.co/g08HfkKuow— Wisconsin On BTN (@WisconsinOnBTN) December 4, 2016"

During Penn State’s second half run, Corey Clement probably had to hear all about how Saquon Barkley was the Big Ten’s best running back. The way he’s playing so far, he’s definitely taking exception to that. And if he can outplay Barkley, the Big Ten Championship will belong to the Badgers.

Knowing how the Badgers operate, that score might be all they need in this game. Their offense doesn’t need to be great when their defense is like a boa constrictor. From D’Cota Dixon, Leo Musso, T.J. Watt, and Vince Biegel, there’s no shortage of playmakers on that side of the ball, and scoring two touchdowns on them may feel like a Herculean task.

At the same time, Wisconsin will want to run up this score as much as possible to impress the playoff committee. They’ve made it no secret that they favor the Big Ten, and that the resume of their champion would likely outweigh that of Washington’s. But after Washington put in a complete team performance against Colorado, it’s possible that the top four will be locked in if Clemson wins, too.

If that’s the case, the Big Ten’s only playoff representative is one that didn’t even play in the Championship Game. No team would be more pissed off about that than Penn State, who actually beat Ohio State. But there’s still a long way to go before the Committee releases their final rankings. Whatever they come up with, there will be no shortage of controversy.
