ESPN.com is down and the sports world is not sure what to do with their time as the Worldwide Leader is showing they’re vulnerable to technical difficulties too.
Update: ESPN.com is back up and running and all is right with the world.
It’s Saturday morning and I’m trying to layout my work plan for the day’s college football action. I wanted to look at the schedule so I know when to do things and come up with a plan of attack. When I went to ESPN.com I couldn’t get the page to load. I did what we all do in this situation and refreshed the page. Still, no luck. I tried it again and still it failed to load. Whatever will I do?
After a number of failed attempts and a quick perusal of Twitter, it rang home that it just wasn’t my Gateway laptop from 2006 that was the problem, it’s ESPN.com that is down.
Talk about bad timing.
So, this is weird. https://t.co/qxNkr8H7aT appears to be down pic.twitter.com/J8z6w4afgH

It’s Championship Week in college football and fans want to know the scores from last night’s MAC and Pac-12 title games and how it’ll affect the Cotton Bowl and the College Football Playoff rankings.
Plus, it’s not like college football is the only game in town today. There is live soccer going on across the pond and we’ll have college basketball, NBA and NHL games. Moreover, it’s Hot Stove season in baseball and fans will want to stay on top of the latest rumors so they know who their team may be pursuing as a free agent or a trade target.

Hopefully, this is a temporary problem and ESPN.com will be up and running shortly. If it’s not, millions of sports fans are going to be flocking to their main competitors for all the things they used to be able to get from the Worldwide Leader.
Personally, I just hope it’s up and running in time for the college football so I can watch the highlights of all the touchdowns and crazy plays of the day.
