The Penn State Nittany Lions won the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game over the Wisconsin Badgers by stopping running back Corey Clement on a fourth and one.

The Penn State Nittany Lions were able to defeat the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game by playing their best ball in the second half of the game.

Up 38-31 inside of a minute remaining, Penn State was able to stuff Wisconsin running back Corey Clement on a fourth and one. Penn State would take over on downs and would eventually milk the rest of the game clock to win by that score.

It’s only fitting that the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game would be decided by a fourth and one. In The Game between the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett was able to convert on a fourth and one in double overtime to set up a game-winning touchdown by running back Curtis Samuel.

Michigan fans hated that in Columbus, as they would have been in the Big Ten Championship Game over Penn State. The Wolverines throttled Penn State earlier in the season. Penn State would have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Buckeyes to win the Big Ten East. That’s why you don’t lose on the road in Iowa City to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Penn State is at worst going to be playing in the Rose Bowl as 2016 Big Ten Champions. The College Football Selection Committee has to decided if a two-loss Big Ten Champion is more deserving of a playoff berth over a one-loss Ohio State team as an at-large.

One can argue that the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Clemson Tigers, and the Washington Huskies are all getting in. All three won their conference championships and Alabama did it undefeated. Will it be Penn State or Ohio State getting that fourth College Football Playoff invitation?
