During the main game of Pokemon Sun and Moon, you’ll catch a Solgaleo or a Lunala, but you can actually obtain a second one. Here’s how.

Pokemon Sun and Moon have now been out for two full weeks, which means that intrepid gamers have found still more secrets and special events in the games. A major point of any Pokemon game is catching the legendary Pokemon on the cover. In the case of Sun, it’s Solgaleo; in Moon, you’ll meet Lunala instead. That comes before beating the Elite Four and becoming the new Alolan Champion. However, you’ll also be able to obtain a second Solgaleo or Lunala.

We’ll tip our hats here to Serebii.net, but we’ve also independently confirmed it in our copy of Moon. First, you’ll need to put your Solgaleo or Lunala in your party and keep it there. Return to the Altar of the Sunne or Moone, where you caught your first legendary, located in Vast Poni Canyon. There, you’ll see another dimensional rift. Choose to go through it, and you’ll visit an alternate world.

Next, you’ll fly to the Lake of the Sunne or Moone, located on Ula’ula Island. If you’ve previously visited it, you can use your Ride Pager and fly there with Charizard. Walk through the entire shrine and reach the lake, and you’ll encounter a level 5 Cosmog.

No catching required here, either. It will simply join your party. Fly back to the altar and return to your original world. To train Cosmog up, go fight the Trainers in places like the Poni Wilds, only accessible after you finish the Pokémon League for the first time. Turn on the EXP Share Kukui gave you at the start of the game, and watch the levels flow to Cosmog.

When it hits level 43, it will evolve into Cosmoem. Then, when it reaches level 53, you’ll have a second Solgaleo in Sun or another Lunala in Moon. You may want to use this second legendary to trade to a friend who has the other version of the game — for the opposite legendary, of course! Finishing that Rotom Dex is very important, you know.
