The Chicago Bears beat the San Francisco 49ers 26-6 in a rare dominant performance.

Entering Week 13, one of the more intriguing match ups on the schedule featured the Chicago Bears hosting the San Francisco 49ers. However, Chicago made sure the game wouldn’t be close, beating San Francisco 26-6. The Bears advance to 3-9 while the 49ers are now 1-11. With this loss, San Francisco all but ensures itself of at least the second overall pick. However, they’ll need the Cleveland Browns to win a game to have a shot at getting the first overall pick.

San Francisco attempted just 15 passes during the game. Even for a run heavy offense, that’s an incredibly small number. They ended the game with 141 yards rushing, with Carlos Hyde leading the way with 91 yards. The most embarrassing stat? Quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert combined to complete just five passes. San Francisco couldn’t even get the ball into the end zone when they started just four yards away from it.

Meanwhile, the Bears had a very solid performance on offense. Matt Barkley wasn’t outstanding, but he was efficient, going 11 for 18 for 192 passing yards. As always, Chicago got most of their offense from running back Jordan Howard, who got 117 yards on the ground. Akiem Hicks led a dominant Bears defense, notching 10 tackles with a forced fumble.

Highlights

Three Stars

  1. Jordan Howard: Everyone knew Howard was primed to have a big day going against the worst run defense in the NFL. He didn’t disappoint, running for three touchdowns and 117 yards.
  2. Leonard Floyd: Usually defensive players don’t star in games, but Floyd might have been the most dominant player in this game. He got two sacks, including a safety. Floyd had arguably his best game as a pro, making an impact all game long.
  3. Akiem Hicks: Another defensive end also played extremely well, notching eight tackles and a forced fumble to go along with two sacks.
