Penn State head coach James Franklin called out the College Football Playoff committee after their Big Ten Conference Championship win.

Head coach James Franklin and Penn State needed a miracle to beat Wisconsin in the Big Ten Conference Championship game. They were down 28-7 and seemed to be done for. However, a 24-3 second half comeback led to the Nittany Lions stunning the Badgers and winning the title game, 38-31.

Afterward, there would be a ceremony to give Penn State their trophy for winning the matchup in Indianapolis. On the stage, FOX Sports announcer Joel Klatt would interview Franklin about his thoughts on the College Football Playoff, which led to some interesting comments. The third-year head man would call out the CFP committee and make his case for PSU’s spot in the final four teams below.

Certainly some strong words from coach Franklin, who clearly thinks his team deserves a spot in the CFP. They have a case just like other schools in the top 10, but it’s far from a guarantee that they sneak into the mix.

Franklin’s case seems to surround the Ohio State victory and the conference; Penn State beat them, 24-21 in October. He called the Big Ten the toughest conference, which is debatable and how they walked out as winners.

As of Saturday night, though, Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin all had the edge over Penn State in the CFP. The rankings are set to be released on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. ET, which should change that up a bit. The Nittany Lions may have a chance of getting the fifth spot, pushing Michigan further down in the top ten. The question is if the committee decides not winning a conference title game, while also getting beaten by the conference champion, is enough to push the Buckeyes out. That may be the biggest question as James Franklin and PSU follow along on Sunday.
