Team of the Week: Alabama Crimson Tide

At the end of the day, there is only one No. 1 team in the nation. The Alabama Crimson Tide completely obliterated the Florida Gators in the 2016 SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, 54-16.

Alabama improved to 13-0 on the year. The Crimson Tide were the only team in the Power 5 to get through their conference championship game unscathed with a shot at perfection. This team has an unbelievable front-seven, playmakers out on the perimeter, and a dual-threat true freshman quarterback in Jalen Hurts that gets better with every snap he takes.

Entering Selection Sunday, everybody knew two things were certain coming from the College Football Playoff Selection Committee: 1.) Western Michigan was going to the Cotton Bowl. 2.) Alabama would get the No. 1 seed and be playing in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta.

Alabama will meet No. 4 Washington in Atlanta for the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Should Alabama improve to 14-0 on the year, they will have a shot at being the first team to go 15-0 in a college football season. To do that, Alabama would have to beat the winner of the Playstation Fiesta Bowl in the 2016 National Championship Game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
