6-14. Previous: . Phoenix Suns. 29. team. 66. The Phoenix Suns may place higher in the standings than their second-to-last ranking this week, but this team just really hasn’t done that much to impress this season. They’re relying on a lot of young players and that can only take a team so far — as we’re seeing in Minnesota with the Timberwolves’ unexpectedly slow start — and even though Devin Booker has the makings of a superstar he hasn’t reached that status just yet. Sticking with a young core brings it’s own ups and downs, but in the long run this should pay off well for the franchise. They are a team of the future and as long as they let that guide their decisions for the remainder of the year I don’t see how it doesn’t result in good things for them down the line. For all the times you see the Suns ranked 27th or lower, they are patiently chipping away at the block of ice that they ultimately hopes will become the sculpture of a dominant team. I know ice and Arizona aren’t the best analogies, but it did just snow on the Atlantic coast so the Easterner in me has cold weather on the mind.
