High Value PG

Emmanuel Mudiay-Denver Nuggets (5,200): Mudiay is a boom-or-bust play coming off a huge bust on Monday when he managed just four points and a rebounds with no assists in a matchup he should have been able to thrive in against the 76ers. Mudiay finished with just 2.2 fantasy points in a huge down game and has been held under 26 fantasy points in each of his last four games. While all that is the case, he has the potential to produce bit fantasy points as he showed with three games in a row with at least 31 fantasy points in the middle of last month highlighted by 25-6-9 against the Raptors when he had 42.7 fantasy points. He’s in a great matchup agains the Nets who have been the most generous team in the NBA to opposing PG, but he’s still very high-risk tonight.

Marcus Smart-Boston Celtics (4,700): Smart will likely get the start for the Celtics tonight or at least pick up some extra minutes since  Isaiah Thomas is sidelined by a groin injury.  Smart isn’t the most dynamic scoring option at under 5K, but he does produce across the board in a wide variety of categories when he’s on his game. He had 24 fantasy points on Monday in Houston on 13-5-2 with a block. He is normally a boom-or-bust play, but with Thomas out, he seems set up for more boom tonight. ∗

Patrick Beverley-Houston Rockets (4,500): If you’re not into all this boom-or-bust stuff and just want a steady option from under 5K, Beverley is a good option even though he doesn’t have the high ceiling you get with some of the riskier options. Beverley has at least 20 fantasy points in each of his last three games and five of his last seven. He had 9-5-4  and 22 fantasy points against Smart and the Celtics on Monday and should be around that amount again tonight as the Rockets face the Lakers and their injury-depleted backcourt in Houston tonight.

Jamal Murray-Denver Nuggets (3,900): While Mudiay has been struggling lately, the Nuggets have turned to Jamal Murray who has been as inconsistent as rookies usually are while showing some good signs of upside moving forward. Murray had 22 points and 27.6 fantasy points against the Sixers on Monday, but he had just 5.1 fantasy points and 4.8 fantasy points in his two previous games. He’s high-risk,but he has huge upside against the Nets who are so bad at defending opposing PG.
