Cheers, love! A new Overwatch seasonal event is here!

Overwatch‘s Halloween event wasn’t even over before people started to speculate about whether Blizzard would plan a holiday event for the game. Many in the community took it as a given that it would happen, and fans have already generated a litany of ideas for character skins, emotes, and voice lines.

Well, joy to the world! Overwatch recently tweeted out this announcement:

The gif displays a Christmas card with an image on the front that resembles a snowy King’s Row. The card then drifts open to reveal that we are being invited to some “holiday cheer” in Overwatch on Dec. 13.

While we haven’t gotten any more information than that, the Overwatch fandom has exploded with holiday cheer.

And if there were ideas before of what new items should come with the holiday event, there are certainly some absolutely GOLD ideas now.

Naturally, some fans have attempted to reach out to Blizzard directly to see if they would be willing to reveal any information, any at all, about what we have to look forward to. Overwatch has given some responses that are absolutely on fire.

Finally, when talking about the holidays, snow and winter goes hand in hand. Where there is snow, there is Mei. It’s widely felt that a special place should be made for Mei during this event since it is taking place during the season in which she reigns supreme.

However, that doesn’t mean the Overwatch community is about to start loving her. Mei is considered overpowered and incredibly annoying to play against. And apparently, Overwatch itself has the same opinion.

See you on Overwatch on Dec. 13!
