Giants Nikita Whitlock’s house broken into, vandalized with racial slurs
By Paul Ward
New York Giants fullback Nikita Whitlock had his apartment broken into for the second time in a matter of a few weeks.
Nikita Whitlock is on IR for the New York Giants. He shouldn’t be making headlines, but unfortunately he is after his family apartment was broken into Tuesday night. Whitlock stated that his apartment had also been broken into over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The break-in on Tuesday night was more than just a simple theft. The individuals did steal some items from the home, but what is more disturbing was how they vandalized the home. The robbers left behind racist slurs all over the apartment walls.
"“It’s about to be 2017. Oppression, racism, hatred, violence, there’s no need for that.”"
Some of the slurs included, “KKK” and “Go Back to Africa” They also painted a swastika on one wall. The writings on the walls left Whitlock and his wife even more upset. His wife called the event “disheartening.” She said “You never think that, oh this is going to happen to me.”
Whitlocks response was simple. “It’s about to be 2017. Oppression, racism, hatred, violence, there’s no need for that.” He is absolutely right.
Victor Cruz’s response
The Whitlocks weren’t the only one’s who weighed in on this tragic event. Victor Cruz, Giants receiver and Whitlock’s teammate, had a very strong message to convey after he learned about the vandalism.
In an interview with the New York Daily News Cruz said, “”I think it’s definitely a direct reflection of how this country’s being run and how this country’s reacting maybe to some of the decisions, some of the ways that this country’s being run and things that are being said by people at the helm of this country and at the helm of our day-to-day lives — our day-to-day from social media all the way up to the White House.”

Cruz, like many other Americans, apparently has had enough of the racism and hate in this country. This is an awful event, especially during a time of year when people are supposed to be pushing peace and love for their fellow man.
