High Value PG

Tim Frazier-New Orleans Pelicans (5,700): There are some unusually good plays tonight at PG under 5K. Tim Frazier is the first one we’ll look at since it looks like he’s trending toward making his third straight start in place of Jrue Holiday who is “probably not” playing tonight according to coach Alvin Gentry. Frazier had 30.5 fantasy points on Monday against Memphis and 22.5 fantasy points against the 76ers on Thursday in his two starts this week. He posted 22.5 fantasy points when the Pelicans played the Clippers earlier this month, but I think he has much more upside than that if he gets the start tonight. Frazier has a very high ceiling, but it has been a while since he reached double-digits in scoring.

Tyler Johnson-Miami Heat (5,600): Last night in Cleveland, the Heat were without Dion Waiters, Luke Babbitt, Josh Richardson, and James Johnson leaving plenty of playing time for Johnson who played 38 minutes even though the game was a blowout. He has 12-5-2 a blcok and a steal to total 27.75 fantasy points. While it wasn’t the 43 fantasy points he exploded for on Wednesday, it was still a solid return and gave him at least 24 fantasy points in six straight contests. Josh Richardson could play a few limited minutes tonight, but Johnson will still be heavily involved for the short-handed Heat as they visit Chicago. If you’re looking for a PG play in the 5,000’s, he’s a little bit safer than Frazier.

Jameer Nelson-Denver Nuggets (5,300): Nelson and the Nuggets roll into his former NBA home in Orlando tonight, and Nelson could get another start depending on the status of Emmanuel Mudiay. Nelson started in his place on Thursday and finished with a solid 10-4-8 totaling 29 fantasy points. He has at least 25 fantasy points in seven of his last eight games most of which he has been coming off the bench. It looks like Mudiay will play tonight, but he was playing so badly that coach Mike Malone may stick with Nelson or all east give him enough run off the bench. Whether he starts or subs in, Nelson is a great play in a possible #RevengeGame given his current form.

Shelvin Mack-Utah Jazz (4,900): The Jazz basically punted their game on Thursday against the Warriors since they were without 4/5 of their starting lineup as Rodney Hood, George Hill, Gordon Hayward, and Derrick Favors were all injured. Hood and Hayward could be back tonight, though, but George Hill is still out.

Shelvin Mack was one of the players who has stepped up while Hill has been sidelined although Dante Exum usually gets the official start. Mack had 33 fantasy points on 19-2-5 on Thursday and now has at least eight points and 18 fantasy points in five straight contests. The Jazz will look to get back in the win column as they host the Kings tonight, and its a matchup that I think will allow Mack will produce enough to be worth his sub-5k salary.∗∗∗

Patty Mills-San Antonio Spurs (4,800): Mills hasn’t been quite as consistent as Nelson, but he is $500 cheaper and in a good matchup against the Nets. No team in the NBA allows more fantasy points per game to opposing PG, so Mills should get good opportunities to produce 20+ fantasy points whether Tony Parker is available or not. Mills has at least 25 fantasy points in four of his last five.

Malcolm Brogdon-Milwaukee Bucks (3,200): Brogdon has been one of the fantasy basketball sleepers that has been in my DraftKings daily picks on and off for much of the first quarter of the season. He has stepped up in his last two game with 24.5 fantasy points and 25.75 fantasy points  against the Blazers and Hawks. Last night, he helped cover for the disappointing Giannis Antetokounmpo who was mired with foul trouble. He played a season-high 28 minutes totaling 12-2-4 and two steals against the Hawks. His minutes will likely return to the mid to low 20’s tonight, but he’s still my favorite play under 4K at PG.
