Five-star recruit Trevon Duval unleashes poster dunk on 6-foot-8 defender

Trevon Duval slammed home a filthy dunk on Saturday afternoon.
6-foot-3 point guard Trevon Duval is one of the most sought after 2017 high school recruits left on the board, and on Saturday he showed why, slamming home a massive one-handed dunk over a 6-foot-8 defender at the National High School Hoops Festival.
Go ahead and watch it again. That’s a slam you’d expect to see out of bigger point guards, but the 6-foot-3 Duval clearly has the hops to climb the ladder. It’s worth noting that he followed the dunk up with a bit of trash talk, bumping his victim as he tried to cower down the floor. Duval finished with 17 points and nine assists as he carried his team to victory, but his dunk will remain the talking point of the weekend.
Duval is the fifth-ranked recruit in the country, according to 247Sports, and was being recruited by just about every major program in college basketball. He’s since trimmed his list to five: Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Kansas and Seton Hall without a set decision date.
The 18-year old figures to only play one year of college hoops, but he’ll make an immediate impact wherever he ends up. Duval is an excellent ballhandler who can get into the teeth of a defense and break it down before either exploding for a slam like the one above or finding an open teammate elsewhere on the floor. With a 6-foot-8 wingspan, Duval also has the length to be a pesky defender against opposing guards.

As the top-ranked point guard in the class, Duval can take his time making a decision to see where the pieces fall as current college players make NBA draft decisions later in the spring. In the meantime, we’ll have to settle for courtside video of him throwing down vicious dunks on unsuspecting defenders. Doesn’t seem so bad.
