The slumping Houston Texans are tied for first place in the AFC South. But on Sunday, they can sweep the Indianapolis Colts for the first time.

The time really is now for the Houston Texans. Losers of three straight games, the team suddenly has company atop the AFC South. At 6-6, Bill O’Brien’s club now shares the division lead with the upstart Tennessee Titans and Sunday’s foe, the Indianapolis Colts.

Thanks to a rousing 26-23 overtime comeback win eight weeks ago at Houston, the Texans can sweep the Colts for the first time since the club began play back in 2002.

Will they get the job done? Their playoff hopes may rest on it.

Three Stars

1. DeAndre Hopkins

He did not catch a touchdown pass in this year’s first meeting. But Hopkins was targeted 15 times and hauled in nine passes for 71 yards in the Texans’ win. Four of those grabs came in the fourth quarter on a touchdown drive that narrowed Indianapolis’ lead to 23-16. The 2015 Pro Bowler figures to have another interesting encounter with Colts’ cornerback Vontae Davis.

2. Andrew Luck

You have to like the Colts’ chance whenever Luck is under center. And while he and his team fell at Houston in overtime back in Week 6, his numbers in this series are impressive. Despite being sacked 19 times in seven lifetime encounters, he owns a 5-2 lifetime record vs. the Texans. Luck has thrown for 1,637 yards and 15 scores while being picked off only four times in this rivalry.

3. Donte Moncrief

Primed for a big year in 2016, the rising star got off to a good start in a Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions. He was injures the following Sunday at Denver and then missed the next five games. But Moncrief has been pretty steady since his return, totaling 21 passes for 204 yards and five scores in as many games – scoring a touchdown in each contest. He hopes to keep that streak going against one of the better pass defenses in the league.

Odds

Despite the fact that the Houston Texans have already posted one win over the Indianapolis Colts this season, Bill O’Brien’s club is a 6.5-point underdog in this tilt. The teams combined for 49 points back in Week 6, but the OVER/UNDER on Sunday stands at 46.

Next Week

The Texans host the Jacksonville Jaguars and look to complete a sweep of that series. The Colts travel to the Twin Cities to take on the struggling Minnesota Vikings.
