The Baltimore Ravens have decided to move on from punt returner Devin Hester, after he struggled badly against the New England Patriots.
Hester is likely the greatest punt returner in the history of the NFL, but he had a rough night in Foxborough. While he did not turn the ball over, Hester let footballs hit the turf, leading to horrid field position and in one instance, a safety.
On Tuesday, the Ravens decided to part ways with the veteran, releasing him onto the market. Baltimore has been dreadful in the special teams game all year, ranking 26th in the league with 6.8 yards per punt return. Considering head coach John Harbaugh is an ex-special teams coordinator, that has to stick in his craw.
Hester, 34, is likely to get kicked up somewhere. Teams are always looking to improve their return units, and he could be useful in the right situation. After watching the struggles the Patriots had, perhaps New England would be a fit.
Ravens waived Devin Hester.

The Ravens are sitting 7-6 and one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North. The two teams meet in Heinz Field on Christmas afternoon, potentially deciding who makes the playoffs and who is home for the duration.
