2017 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rule all
By Brad Weiss
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the more surprising stories of the NFL season, as they have vaulted into a tie with the Atlanta Falcons for first place in the NFC South. Quarterback Jameis Winston is one of the best young signal-callers in the league, and running back Doug Martin has looked very good since coming back from injury. The offense is littered with solid, young playmakers, though their defense could use some help in the secondary.
Up front, the Buccaneers defense is scary, as they have been terrorizing opposing quarterbacks the past few weeks. The secondary has played very well as of late, but the team needs help at the safety position. Malik Hooker of Ohio State is one of the better safeties in college football, and he would fit perfectly in a Tampa Bay defense that is definitely on the rise.
Hooker has been the leader of the defensive backfield at Ohio State for a few years now, and he has gone from a relatively unknown player to one of the best in the Big Ten. He is a ferocious hitter, and will likely play the strong safety position at the next level. Tampa Bay is very close to being a perennial playoff contender, and Hooker would be the star defensive back they need when they deal with players like Drew Brees and Matt Ryan twice a season.
