2017 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rule all
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions have been one of the more entertaining teams to watch this season, mostly because they always seem to be fighting back from a deficit. The end results have usually been good this season, as the team is currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC Playoffs. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is in the running for the MVP, and the team seems to be flourishing even with the retirement of Calvin Johnson.
Over on the defensive side of the ball, adding a solid play maker up front has to be a priority, and DeMarcus Walker of Florida State would be a perfect fit for the Lions. Walker is a disruptive player, who has spent the 2016 season terrorizing offenses in the ACC. He can rush the passer, stuff the run, and is even good at getting back into coverage.
Walker is a sack machine, and coming back to Florida State for his senior season was definitely the right decision. He is now a first-round talent, and his body size fits perfectly into the NFL game. The Lions are building something special with their current roster, and adding a seasoned player like Walker will give them another big body up front to team with Ezekiel Anash.
