1. More opportunities for other schools

By creating the College Football Playoff, we have seen teams receive more opportunities over the past few years. This has been created by adding two more teams to the end of the year mix, instead of just having two schools duke it out for the National Championship.

Having four teams in the College Football Playoff means more are getting the chance to compete for the title. This even goes for the teams who are outside of the top four as they feel like they have a bigger chance of sneaking into the big postseason games. This would go for someone like Penn State, who didn’t end up making the 2016 CFP, but had an opportunity to stake their claim for a spot in the season’s final weeks. If this was the BCS, then they would have little to no chance of making the CFP, and wouldn’t even be talked about as a possibility.

The opportunities may come in different forms, but it makes teams believe they have a bigger chance at the postseason. It’s something the BCS couldn’t really provide since the top two teams were sometimes a mile better than everyone else, so it limited the hope of those even slightly a notch below.
