DraftKings NBA Picks for December 14
We are back up to ten games tonight, leaving plenty of stars to litter our DraftKings lineups with. Which ones should we be targeting? Harden or Westbrook? Cousins? None of the above? Where are the bargains at? Let’s take a look!
Don’t forget to follow @fantasycpr on Twitter for lineup updates as we get them leading to the tipoffs of the games! I am not always able to get back in here and fix my picks when someone sits for the night, but we will update it on Twitter.

I am going to change one little thing. I usually create two DraftKings lineups, so I am going to start posting the both of them since the one I post usually winds up being the lower scoring of the two.

Point Guards
Best Bets:
Kyle Lowry ($8,200): The 76ers are third worst against opposing point guards this year. Lowry racked up 44.5 DraftKings points against the Sixers in their first meeting, which leaves him a shade above 5x value. I would much rather save $3,600 and take Lowry instead of Mr. Triple-Double tonight.
Goran Dragic ($7,300): Dragic lost a few minutes with some of the Heat backcourt getting healthy, but he was actually more effective. Dragic posted 49.25 DraftKings points for his second straight 40+ point game. This should be the third against a Pacers team that has struggled on the perimeter.
Honorable Mention:
Russell Westbrook ($11,800): Westbrook had his worst game of the season last night against Portland, posting just 35 DraftKings points. Tonight he gets a Utah team that is still without George Hill, but they are still third in the league against opposing point guards. If I’m spending this kind of money, I want more of a sure thing. However, it is hard to bet against Westbrook at any time.
Jeremy Lin ($5,600): Lin is still coming off the bench, but his price is low enough that he shouldn’t have problems reaching value. The Lakers are right in the middle against point guards, but if D’Angelo Russell plays, it could temper Lin’s value some.
Patrick Beverley ($5,400): Beverley is criminally underpriced right now. He has six straight games over 5x value, and has hit 6x value in two of those. Sacramento has had issues guarding the point as well, so look for Beverley to have another solid game for his price range.
Dark Horses:
Shelvin Mack ($4,800): With George Hill still out, Mack will get another start. Mack has been between 4.2 and 5.5x value in every game with Hill out, but he doesn’t have the upside that many GPP players prefer.
Andrew Harrison ($4,300): Harrison has put up 60 DraftKings points in his last two games. Tonight he gets a Cleveland team that is resting Kyrie Irving. Harrison could have a huge game against the depleted Cavs.
My pick: Lowry(PG), Beverley(G), Harrison(UTIL); Dragic(PG), Mack(UTIL)

Shooting Guards
Best Bets:
Bradley Beal ($6,800): Beal has had 36 or more DraftKings points against teams that are in the bottom half of the league against shooting guards in the last six such games. The Hornets are in the bottom half, just barely, but Beal should still hit that mark. He has been playing well lately.
Lou Williams ($6,500): Russell will play tonight, and even though he struggled in his return on Monday, Williams still didn’t have that great of a game. A lot of that had to do with the Sacramento defense. Tonight he gets a Nets team that is third worst in the league against shooting guards. If Russell struggles again, Williams should get plenty of shots.
Honorable Mention:
James Harden ($12,000): I would be foolish to not at least mention a talent like Harden. That said, the Kings have done well against shooting guards this year, including Harden himself. The Beard “only” had 49 DraftKings points against the Kings in their first meeting, which is well under 5x value.
Avery Bradley ($6,300): Bradley has been one of the more consistent plays in the Boston lineup over the last month. He has missed 5x value just three times in that span. Bradley remains one of the most consistent pieces of any DFS lineup.
Dark Horses:
Tony Allen ($4,900): Of course, the night I finally recommend Allen, he throws up a 16.25 DraftKings point clunker. That was his worst showing since Mike Conley went down. I am back on him tonight because of Cleveland sitting their big three. This is going to be an ugly game, but there will be a ton of value picks in this one. Like….
Iman Shumpert ($3,700): Shumpert has hit 5x value in each of his last three games, and that was with no one sitting. Shumpert should see over 30 minutes of court time in this one, which could push his production close to the 30 DraftKings point threshold. That would make him 9x value. He will be in my lineup, and many others, I’m sure.
DeAndre Liggins ($3,000): You likely wont be forced to go this cheap, but Liggins will start this game as well. In his first start, he put up 18.5 DraftKings points, which is better than 6x value. If you need to go this cheap, Liggins is your man.
My pick: Bradley(SG); Harden(SG), Liggins(G)

Small Forwards
Best Bets:
Gordon Hayward ($8,400): Hayward has six consecutive games of over 40 DraftKings points. Simply put: he wont fail you. At least not lately. This kind of production against all walks of teams makes Hayward the least volatile of any higher priced option.
Kawhi Leonard ($8,100): Leonard is riding his own three game streak of over 40 DraftKings points. Tonight he gets a Boston team that he put up 49.5 DraftKings points against in their first meeting. He should be somewhere near that again after a cold stretch to start December.
Honorable Mention:
Paul George ($7,900): George has alternated good and subpar games lately. He has also alternated good and bad matchups, so that likely has something to do with it. Tonight George tangles with a Miami team that is finally getting healthy, but will they be too rusty to guard him? George is due for a good game. Does the trend continue?
Otto Porter ($5,700): Porter has been in quite a slump lately, missing 5x value in four straight games. Why will tonight be different? Maybe because Charlotte is the worst team in the league against small forwards. Porter is still a risk, but if he is ever going to turn it around, it is likely here.
Dark Horses:
Robert Covington ($4,700): Covington has been trending upward lately, putting up more than 20 DraftKings points in his last four games. Covington started the season slowly, then battled some injuries. Is he finally starting to come around? For this price, it may be worth finding out.
Kelly Oubre ($3,700): Oubre has been stealing Porter’s minutes, and for the most part he has done well with them. Oubre has 74.25 DraftKings points over his last three games, which is better than Porter’s output. Porter is still the starter, but as long as Oubre keeps playing around 25 minutes, he could be worth a look.
My Pick: Hayward(SF); Leonard(SF)

Power Forwards
Best Bets:
Blake Griffin ($8,500): Well, with a lot of stars getting the night off, Griffin could really shine tonight. The Magic are in the lower half of power forward defense. Aside from a terrible game against the Warriors, Griffin has 5x value in his last three games. It should be four tonight.
Julius Randle ($5,900): Randle put up 58.5 DraftKings points in his first matchup with the Nets this year. With a lack of other great options, Randle could be a huge bargain tonight. Never mind his terrible outing against the Kings. The Kings have done the same to better players than Randle. He will be back on track tonight.
Honorable Mention:
Trevor Booker ($5,900): Booker may not be much on the defensive end, but he is a solid contributor on offense. He put up a solid 35 DraftKings points in his first meeting with the Lakers, and has been at or over that mark in five of the past seven games. He should be there again tonight.
JaMychal Green ($5,800): Yes, the Cavs are in the upper third of the league in defense of power forwards, but most of that rating came with Kevin Love on the court. Love will be in a suit on the sidelines, so don’t be surprised if Green goes nuts against the reserves.
Dark Horses:
Channing Frye ($3,500): Frye should see good run even if he doesn’t start with LeBron James and Kevin Love both taking the night off. Frye is one of the more accomplished veterans on the bench, so the Cavs may need him to keep the calm on the floor. He doesn’t have a lot of upside, but at this price, he should have no trouble hitting value.
David Lee ($3,500): Lee has still done pretty well even in limited minutes this year. He should start tonight with LaMarcus Aldridge getting rest, so Lee could come up with near 10x value. No kidding.
My pick: Randle(PF), Lee(F); Green(PF), Lee(F)

Center
Best Bets:
Hassan Whiteside ($8,300): Whiteside has a couple of terrible games last week, but rebounded in his last two games hitting 5x value in both of them. Whiteside remains the best option at center with DeMarcus Cousins sitting, and we will have plenty of money to play with tonight. He is worth using against an Indiana team in the bottom ten of the league against centers.
Marc Gasol ($7,900): Gasol should be well rested and will be taking on a depleted Cleveland lineup. However, Tristan Thompson is still slated to play, so Gasol’s route wont be as easy as JaMychal Green’s or Zach Randolph‘s. That said, Gasol’s worst game in his last five was a 43.25 DraftKings point outing. He is on fire right now playing a shadow of the Cavs. Look for lots of points here, unless this gets out of hand early.
Honorable Mention:
Joel Embiid ($7,400): Even with the return of Jahlil Okafor, Embiid is still “the man” on days when he plays. Embiid has averaged 39.5 DraftKings points per game since his minutes restriction was raised on November 19th. If you plan to fade Gasol, Embiid is a more certain option than Whiteside.
Rudy Gobert ($7,100): Gobert has averaged 46 DraftKings points per game over his last four outings. He is on quite a roll right now, and I would consider using him against a solid Thunder frontcourt if you are into contrarian plays.
Brook Lopez ($6,800): Lopez has been right about average lately, but the reason I consider him here is because what he did to the Lakers in their first meeting. Lopez dropped 55.5 DraftKings points on the Lakeshow in their first meeting.
Dark Horses:
Clint Capela ($5,500): With Cousins out, the door is wide open for Capela to have a monster game. Everyone thinks he is capable of it, but he has yet to accomplish it. Will it happen tonight?
Timofey Mozgov ($3,200): Mozgov has been mostly invisible on the offensive end this year, but he still has hung around 5x value in every game. Mozgov put up 29 DraftKings points on the Nets in their first meeting. There are a ton of bargains to be had tonight, but Mozgov will likely not be nearly as widely used as the rest.
My pick: Gasol(C); Capela(C)
