It seems like the Wisconsin Badgers have been shuffling through head coaches for the past few years. It’s because they have.

After Bret Bielema left for Arkansas following the 2012 season, the Badgers hired Gary Andersen from Utah State. He had a ton of success, going 19-7 in two seasons before leaving prior to a bowl game in 2014. Athletic director Barry Alvarez then hired Paul Chryst as head coach and he has put together two straight 10-win seasons.

Wisconsin is an elite Big Ten program whether people want to give the Badgers credit for that or not. Not many schools can shuffle through three head coaches and still remain one of the biggest conference title threats in the Big Ten. The Badgers fell a touchdown shy of the Big Ten title against Penn State this season, but earned a Cotton Bowl bid.

The Badgers are one of the founding schools in the Big Ten, winning 14 conference titles since their induction into the league. The most recent was in 2012 under Bielema and that was the last of three in a row. Before that, Alvarez coached this the program to three conference crowns in the 1990s.

Wisconsin has a claimed national title, a 13-14 record in bowl games, 27 consensus All-Americans and two Heisman Trophy winners in Alan Ameche and Ron Dayne. The school has also produced some of the best running backs in college football history in Melvin Gordon, Montee Ball, James White and Dayne in recent years.
