There might be some frustration building in Los Angeles these days as UCLA has failed to meet expectations for the past couple of years under head coach Jim Mora. He took over in 2012 and led the Bruins to a 29-11 record in his first three seasons, but they’re just 12-13 in the last two years.

The belief is that he’ll turn things around as he can recruit fairly well, but if he doesn’t this coming season, the chances of him sticking with the top-tier Pac-12 program are slim.

Living up to expectations at UCLA is never easy, especially when it means competing with in-state rival USC.

Since joining the Pac-12 in 1969, then known as the Pac-8, the Bruins have won eight conference titles, which have been tacked on to the nine league titles they had beforehand. However, the last Pac-12 title came back in 1998, so it’s clear why the fan base is clamoring for more success.

The Bruins have missed out on the postseason this year, but they have a 17-17-1 all-time record in bowl games.

UCLA has produced 39 consensus All-Americans and the Bruins have also had one Heisman Trophy winner in Gary Beban (1967). Some big names to come through the program have been Troy Aikman, Marcedes Lewis, Anthony Barr, Maurice Jones-Drew, Eric Kendricks, Jonathan Ogden and Cade McNown, among others.
