Ranking the top 50 college football programs of all time
Bret Bielema is an established head coach and one of the biggest personalities in college football. He’s also tasked with the tough job of leading Arkansas out of the shadows of the SEC elites and into national prominence. It hasn’t been easy thus far, but the Razorbacks are slowly becoming relevant again.
The former Wisconsin head coach is just 19-20 in four seasons at Arkansas, looking to match Bobby Petrino’s success from 2008-11 when he went 34-17. However, Bielema is 2-0 in bowl games since joining the Razorbacks.
Unfortunately, most of the lore of this program has come in the pre-SEC era. Arkansas joined back in 1992 and has yet to win a conference title. The Razorbacks, formerly of the Southwestern Conference, won 13 conference championships from 1939-1991.
Arkansas also has one claimed national championship back in 1964 under Frank Broyles as well as a 15-23-3 all-time bowl record, including winning four of its last five. Just making 41 bowls is an impressive feat.

The Razorbacks have produced 24 consensus All-Americans and have five head coaches in the College Football Hall of Fame including Lou Holtz and Broyles. Recent stars like Felix Jones, Hunter Henry and Darren McFadden have come out of the program.
