Here we are at the No. 2 spot on the list. The Oklahoma Sooners have been the best and most successful college football program of all time, in the eyes of some. However, I have them right behind a school that I believe is the easy No. 1 choice. Still, it’s hard to remember a time when the Sooners weren’t national title or Big 12 contenders.

Bob Stoops has been one of the more consistent head coaches in college football and he’s a likable guy who his peers have spoken very highly of. He has won 10 conference titles and a national championship since taking over the program as head coach in 1999.

Oklahoma has had plenty of success during bowl season throughout its history. The Sooners have won 28 of their bowl games, tied for third in college football history. Add that to their 46 conference title wins and 17 claimed and unclaimed national titles and the Sooners have a truly elite program.

The Sooners also have 46 consensus All-Americans and there have been five Heisman winners in school history. Billy Vessels was the first to win it, followed by Steve Owens, Billy Sims, Jason White and Sam Bradford. Baker Mayfield was a finalist in 2016.
