Don’t laugh, Purdue has actually had an impressive past. The Boilermakers are currently laughing stocks of the Big Ten, and college football in general, but they do have 601 all-time wins and a national title all the way back in 1931.

This program has taken its fair share of lumps over the past decade-plus, but the Boilermakers were once consistent bowl attendees.

Joe Tiller was the last good coach the program had, leading Purdue to 10 bowl games in 12 years from 1997-2008. He was 4-6 in those games but after he retired in 2008, the program has done nothing but go downhill. There have been just two bowl appearance since and the Boilermakers haven’t put up a winning record in conference play since 2006.

Purdue does have 12 conference titles in its history as well as 20 consensus All-Americans. Its record in bowl games in 9-8 and the Boilermakers one of just 48 FBS teams with over 600 wins in their history.

Kick it old school with this retro Purdue shirt.

Long known for producing NFL-caliber quarterbacks, the Boilermakers have sent guys like Len Dawson, Bob Griese, Jim Everett, Kyle Orton, Curtis Painter and, most notably, Drew Brees to the league. Cliff Avril, Rosevelt Colvin, Rob Ninkovich, Ryan Kerrigan, Mike Alstott and Rod Woodson are all notable alumni.
