2. San Diego Chargers

Fisher’s proclamation about wanting to play against (stick it to?) the Rams would point to a focus on the other teams in the NFC West for his next opportunity, if and when those jobs come open. But the next best thing may be the San Diego Chargers, who seem likely to move to Los Angeles for next season and share the Rams’ stadium when it opens.

The Chargers are 5-8 as Mike McCoy’s fourth season as head coach winds down, with one playoff berth (2013) and a 9-20 mark over the last two seasons. The temperature on the hot seat under McCoy has cooled a bit since early in the season, amid blown fourth quarter leads on a seemingly weekly basis, but he’s done nothing to prove worthy of keeping his job after the season.

Fisher would be a very safe, though incredibly uninspiring, candidate to become San Diego’s next head coach. But that might be ok, as long as Chargers owner Dean Spanos doesn’t pull out the “Fisher’s got experience with relocated franchises” card upon hiring him.
