Bowl season is finally upon us! With the Army-Navy game last weekend, we didn’t even have to go a whole week without a game! Next up is the AutoNation Cure Bowl!

The bowl season kicks off with six games tomorrow. It’s almost like a whole football Saturday! I will not make a pick for the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl. I wouldn’t be doing you any justice there. The only 1-AA teams I have watched are North Dakota State and Youngstown State. I wouldn’t be making an educated pick.
However, for the rest of the bowls, you will get my picks against the spread and point wagers just like I did all season long. I didn’t have a great regular season, but I can make it look a whole lot better with a strong bowl season!
Just in case you missed any:
Gildan New Mexico Bowl
Geico Las Vegas Bowl
Raycom Camellia Bowl
Arkansas State vs. Central Florida(-5.5) at Orlando, FL(4):
Arkansas State(9-3, 7-1 Sun Belt):
Wins: vs. Georgia Southern(27-26), vs. South Alabama(17-7), vs. Louisiana-Monroe(51-10), at Georgia State(31-16), vs. New Mexico State(41-22), at Troy(35-3), at Texas State(36-14)
Losses: vs. Toledo(10-31), at Auburn(14-51), at Utah State(20-34), vs. Central Arkansas(23-28), at Louisiana-Lafayette(19-24)
Record vs. bowl teams: 2-3
The Red Wolves opened the season 0-4 culminating with an embarrassing loss to Central Arkansas. After that, they settled on a quarterback and the defense stepped up. Arkansas State did not allow more than 26 points in a game in conference play. Arkansas State is rolling right now, including the destruction of Sun Belt heavyweight Troy on the road!
Central Florida(6-6, 4-4 AAC):
Wins: vs. South Carolina State(38-0), at Florida International(53-14), at East Carolina(47-29), at Connecticut(24-16), vs. Tulane(37-6), vs. Cincinnati(24-3)
Losses: at Michigan(14-51), vs. Maryland(24-30), vs. Temple(25-26), at Houston(24-31), vs. Tulsa(20-35), at South Florida(31-48)
Record vs. bowl teams: 0-6
This season is a success no matter how the bowl game goes. The Knights were winless last year. Yes, they didn’t beat a bowl team, but they do get this game at home. The emergence of McKenzie MIlton salvaged the end of the season for UCF. This is a young team that struggled against the upper crust of the American Conference, bu they do get a solid matchup here.
Prediction:
UCF has three of the top ten sack leaders in college this season. Can Oklahoma transfer Justice Hansen withstand the pressure? Can Arkansas State’s offensive line hold up? The Red Wolves have a solid defense of their own, but I am thinking that the pressure of UCF is going to cause some mistakes. Add to that the fact that this is a home game for the Knights, and it may be too much to overcome.
Pick: Central Florida
