Live stream and how to watch the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (6-6) vs the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns (6-6) in the 2016 New Orleans Bowl on TV and online on Saturday, Dec. 17.
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles take on the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at the 2016 New Orleans Bowl. This is the fifth appearance at the New Orleans Bowl for both teams but the first time they have played each other at this event.
Southern Miss finished the 2016 season with a 6-6 record under first year head coach Jay Hopson. The team ended the season 4-4 in Conference USA. Quarterback Nick Mullens has been dominant this year with 2,926 yards so far despite missing games for a concussion and thumb injury.
Mullens will look to running back Ito Smith and wide receiver Allenzae Staggers for a run-pass option that has been working well for the team. The Golden Eagles won two of the last five games and are looking to secure a winning record for their first year coach.
Louisiana Lafayette also finished their 2016 campaign with a 6-6 record, giving them a fifth place finish in the Sun Belt Conference. The Ragin’ Cajuns are coming into the New Orleans Bowl as a favorite, and their fans will have the Mercedes Dome so packed with fans that it will feel like a home game.
Running back Elijah McGuire is on fire this year, racking up 100+ yards in five games with over 1,000 yards total. Louisiana Lafayette won three of their last five games of the season, including the last two games, and they’re ready for another New Orleans Bowl victory.
