This is the second meeting in the history of the two teams. Their previous matchup came in the 1997 FCS semifinals as well, with Youngstown state getting the better of Eastern Washington. However, the Eagles really like their chances at home in this one.
Quarterback Gage Gubrud has been sensational for Eastern Washington this season. With some great weapons on offense, including the amazing Cooper Kupp, the Eagles have one of the deadliest passing attacks in the FCS and even in college football altogether.
Youngstown State has guys that like to get after the quarterback however. They can disrupt the flow of things at times and create havoc with some players in the secondary that can pick off passes. This should be the perfect battle on Saturday.
