With Week 2 of the bowl season upon us, it’s time to take a look at the best bets against the spread

Bowl season is underway and the first Saturday of college football action provided endless entertainment for the masses that were in dire need of a fix. With that in mind, we look forward the next (full) week of gridiron action in picking each and every game that will transpire from now until Christmas Eve from a perspective of the point spread.

Before we get to the picks, though, let’s check out where we are for the season.

  • Last Week: 5-0
  • Season: 77-66-1 (5-0 in Bowls)

Let’s get it going now, beginning with Monday afternoon (!) football action, and we’ll see if the awesome start is sustainable.

Miami Beach Bowl (Monday 12/19, 2:30 pm ET) – Central Michigan (+13) over Tulsa

This game has been chaotic in its short history, including an unforgettable brawl in the 2014 game. More than anything, it’s awesome that we get football on a Monday afternoon in mid-December, but when all else fails, take the points. The Chippewas aren’t as good on the field, but the number should probably be ten and we’ll take the additional candy.

Boca Raton Bowl (Tuesday 12/20, 7:00 pm ET) – Memphis (+5.5) over Western Kentucky

I just don’t trust the Hilltoppers on defense. Will they win this game? Probably, but the number is enough to entice me on a Memphis team that closed with four straight wins. Cross your fingers and take the points.
