The Houston Texans just completed a season sweep of the Indianapolis Colts. They hope to do the same this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Talk about a repeat? Last Sunday, the Houston Texans completed their first-ever season sweep of the Indianapolis Colts. This weekend at home, they can knock off the Jacksonville Jaguars for the second time in six weeks.

Of course, this would be old hat for the club, which can turn the trick for the third straight year.

The Texans remain tied for first in the AFC South with the much-improved Tennessee Titans. Bill O’Brien’s club has also won nine straight games vs. divisional rivals.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Lamar Miller

He’s one of six players in the league to run for at least four figures this season. In 13 games, Miller has already totaled a career-best 246 carries – good for 1,010 yards and four touchdowns. He will be taking aim at a Jacksonville defense ranked 23rd in the NFL against the run. In Week 10 vs. the Jaguars, Miller totaled 83 of the team’s 181 rushing yards in his team’s 24-21 win.

2. Bernardrick McKinney

He’s been an unsung part of the league’s sixth-ranked defense. The second-year linebacker leads the team with 114 tackles, to go with four sacks, a pair of passes defended and a forced fumble. McKinney and company have also shored up a unit that allowed 135.4 yards per game on the ground in its first seven games. The Texans have limited five of their last six foes to fewer than 100 yards rushing.

3. Blake Bortles

One year after tying for second in the league with 35 touchdown passes (compared to only 18 interceptions), the third-year signal-caller has struggled with accuracy (58.7 completion percentage) and turnovers (19). Bortles has thrown for 3,187 yards and 21 scores and may be very busy due to his team’s own lack of a ground game.

Odds

The host Texans are 5-point favorites to sweep the Jacksonville Jaguars for the third consecutive season. Not surprisingly, the OVER/UNDER is a very conservative 39.5.

Next Week

The Jaguars return home and play another AFC South rival as they look to avenge an early season loss to the Tennessee Titans. The Texans are back at home to take on the disappointing Cincinnati Bengals.
