Another game and yet another fourth-quarter lead bites the dust. Mike McCoy’s club owned a 16-13 advantage entering the final 15 minutes only to watch things eventually come apart. In 14 games this season, the Bolts have been outscored a combined 136-71 in the fourth quarter and overtime. Against the less-than-formidable Oakland defensive unit, the Chargers managed only 263 yards of total offense. Quarterback Philip Rivers threw two touchdown passes but was sacked three times and picked off once. All told, San Diego has turned over the football 32 times this season. And the team’s usually-solid run defense allowed the Silver and Black to run for 145 yards on 29 attempts.
Next Week: The disappointing Chargers head east to take on the winless Cleveland Browns, who lost to the Buffalo Bills by 20 points on Sunday at Orchard Park. McCoy’s squad is 2-5 on the road this year but those wins have come over a pair of first-place clubs in the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans.

Draft talk: We have mentioned it before in these pages but it may be time to address an early pick on the quarterback position. The Chargers could also use some help in the secondary, perhaps at safety, and are in need of some much-needed depth at wide receiver.
. 5-9. Previous: . San Diego Chargers. 24. team. 13
