Report: Blake Griffin needs minor knee surgery, out until January
According to a report, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will need minor knee surgery on his right knee and will be out for a brief period of time.
The Los Angeles Clippers haven’t had the best luck with injuries over the last couple of seasons. After key injuries to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin derailed their playoff chances last season, the Clippers are hoping they can remain healthy this year.
Unfortunately, it looks like they will be without their superstar power forward for a little bit. According to Shams Charania, Griffin needs minor knee surgery on his right and will be out until January.
The silver lining here is that it is minor and is something he will come back from. The concerning thing here is that it’s yet another nagging injury for Griffin and something that he has to continue to battle.
Before the playoffs last year, Griffin missed a good amount of time with injuries, most notably the much publicized hand injury he suffered in an altercation with the equipment manager. The Clippers want to have a top seed in the Western Conference this year and they’re off to a great start.
Having to go at it without one of their key players is going to be tough. While they still have Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and a slew of depth on the roster, Griffin really brings an offensive game down low and is someone they can rely on to get points in the paint. It’s only a minor thing but it’s something certainly to keep note of at this point.
