NFL Mock Draft: Week 16
By Brad Weiss
San Francisco put forth another horrible effort this past weekend, and it looks like they are desperately fighting for the No. 1 overall pick in next April’s draft. The team did nothing on either side of the ball, as the Atlanta Falcons looked like they were playing against the air. This franchise needs help, and whether or not they move on from head coach Chip Kelly, the bottom line is they need a new quarterback.
There are a few quarterbacks that should be solid at the next level, but none who at this point who are considered franchise. Still, the University of North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky is very talented, and looked like someone who could perform well at the next level during his only season as the Tar Heelss’ starting quarterback. He has tremendous accuracy, and within the right system, could be someone that develops into a big-time player.
Colin Kaepernick is done in San Fran, and Blaine Gabbert is a backup quarterback. The team could go out and get a free agent this offseason, but there won’t be anybody worth the money, as Kirk Cousins is slated to get a big deal from the Washington Redskins. The 2018 NFL Draft has more talent at the position, but Trubisky would be a nice selection at No. 2 if the 49ers decide to go with a quarterback.
