It has been a seesaw battle with the Oakland Raiders for first place in the AFC West for the Kansas City Chiefs, who now find themselves as a Wild Card team after their Week 15 loss. The Chiefs are one of the more well-rounded teams in football, though they are getting horrible play from their quarterback as of late. There is no answer to the Alex Smith problem in this draft for next year, but they may be able to get a guy later in the draft to fill the role down the road.

If the Chiefs are smart, they will look to add to their already stellar defense in April, specifically at the linebacker position. Derrick Johnson is getting up there in age, and it is time to consider life without him very soon. Bringing in a young guy to play alongside of him is going to be key, as the prospect will gain such valuable knowledge by playing next to a legend.

Zach Cunningham of Vanderbilt is an intriguing player, as he has the ability to do everything from the linebacker position. He is so long, and with his speed and strength, he is going to be a difference maker on the inside at the next level. Kansas City is looking for their next star at the position after Johnson retires, and Cunningham could be just what the organization is looking for.
