An artist recreated the Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium, home of the Sooners, using Minecraft.
Although the 2016 college football regular season has concluded, it didn’t stop a creative mind from whipping up a masterpiece. Minecraft guru Jaxon Builds has been at it for nearly a couple of years, recreating stadium of some of the most legendary football programs. Among the schools in his creative portfolio, Jaxon Builds has toyed with the following stadiums: Ohio Stadium, Autzen, Clemson Memorial and the Rose Bowl.
In this year’s special stadium virtual makeover, Jaxon chose the University of Oklahoma’s Memorial Stadium.
Clearly this isn’t a half-assed attempt.
Jaxon Build’s Memorial Stadium is complete with a red stripe lining the 20-yard line, along with “Oklahoma” carved in the infamous lava found in Minecraft gameplay. The artist also depicts the clubhouse suites that sit perched atop the stadium. Jaxon Builds committed enough time to also get the concessions and concourse areas in there, as well as an odd cameo of a Minecraft avatar.
The last couple of years have proven busy for the popular first-person video game. Since its launch in 2011, Minecraft has sold over 100 million copies, most of which are from the computer version. Then, in 2014, Microsoft stormed the party by purchasing the game’s developer, Mojang, along with the intellectual property behind Minecraft, for $2.5 billion.

Far from the constructs of Minecraft, the 2016 Oklahoma Sooners leave the regular season at No. 7 in the final AP Poll. QB Baker Mayfield and WR Dede Westbrook fired on all cylinders. Moreso, the offensive prowess of the Sooners prevailed for much of the season. But the Sooners might be slightly distracted given the situation surrounding Joe Mixon. Regardless, the Sooners will have to face some adversity when they play Auburn in this year’s Sugar Bowl.
