Two of the most storied franchises in the NFL go at it on Saturday when the Washington Redskins visit the Chicago Bears.

Though the Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears are two of the most historic franchises in the NFL, the 2016 season has been unmerciful to both of them. While it has been far more cruel to the 3-11 Bears, don’t underestimate how heartless it has been to the 7-6-1 Skins. On Saturday, Dec. 24 starting at 1:00 p.m. ET, Chicago will host Washington at Soldier Field.

The Bears have been one of the worst teams in the NFL judging by their record. However, looking at their numbers, they have been a bit unlucky. The primary offender of their 2016 misdeeds has been their offense. Though Matt Barkley has done surprisingly well at quarterback as of late, Jay Cutler and Brian Hoyer failed before him.

Despite a lackluster offense which ranks 29th in points per game and 14th in yards per game, their defense has been impressive. Their 22.9 points allowed per game (16th in the NFL) doesn’t do them justice because they rank ninth in fewest yards allowed per game (335.4).

On the other side of the field, Washington comes into Week 16 needing a win to keep their razor thin playoff hopes alive. A loss to the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football puts their postseason dreams on thin ice. They’ll need to win out and have some teams lose in order to make their second straight playoff appearance.

Odds

Spread: Washington (-3)

Line: Redskins (-156) Bears (+132)

Over under: 47

According to Odds Shark, the Redskins are the favorites to get a road win. Worth noting is Washington has a 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games. Also, the over under total has gone over in six of their last seven games.

Meanwhile, Chicago has a 5-0 record against the spread in their last five games. Also, the over under total has gone under in six of their last nine games.

Prediction

Washington should get a win over the Bears on Saturday. Kirk Cousins will be looking to rebound from a rough night against the Panthers.
