Here’s how to watch Saturday evening’s Hawaii Bowl between Hawaii and Middle Tennessee online.
Middle Tennessee got off to a hot start to the season, going 6-2 through its first eight games, even adding a win over Missouri in the process. However, the Blue Raiders’ Conference-USA hopes were shot with two losses in their final four games and they finished third in their division.
Still, this is a dangerous team and you can bet Hawaii won’t be taking them lightly in the Hawaii Bowl. Sophomore quarterback Brent Stockstill missed the past few games with an injury, but if he can play, the Blue Raiders will be the clear favorites in this matchup.
Stockstill passed for over 4,000 yards as a redshirt freshman and is 199 away from the 3,000-yard mark this season. With a receiver like Richie James and a back like I’Tavius Mathers, it’s easy to see why the young quarterback has had so much success this season.
Richie James has been his favorite receiver this season, catching an incredible 97 passes for 1,463 yards and 11 touchdowns. Don’t sleep on the run game led by I’Tavius Mathers, either. The senior back has 1,504 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Hawaii will be rewarded for a 6-7 season with a home game essentially. Heck, for a team like Hawaii to make a bowl, it’s almost more rewarding to stay in Honolulu than go north for a game and the Rainbow Warriors will get to ‘host’ Middle Tennessee on Christmas Eve.
After beginning the season as the backup, sophomore quarterback Dru Brown has molded into a solid starter. He has passed for 2,214 yards and 15 touchdowns with a 62 percent completion rate.
Moreover, he has a guy like Marcus Kemp to throw to on a regular basis. The senior wide out was his favorite target all season, catching 70 passes for 1,036 yards and seven touchdowns. With an average run game, Kemp excelled at the receiver position for Hawaii.
