Take a look at the final score, highlights and more from Monday afternoon’s Quick Lane Bowl between Maryland and Boston College.
Maryland was reeling heading into its Quick Lane Bowl matchup with Boston College, losing six of eight games and sneaking into the postseason. However, the one thing that could have played into their favor would be the fact that Boston College’s offense was sputtering.
However, Boston College’s usually lethargic offense was breaking out against the Terrapins’ lifeless defense through one half. The Eagles took a 29-13 lead into halftime and Patrick Towles already had two touchdown passes through 30 minutes after having just 10 in the regular season.
The second half started with a more familiar Boston College defense. The Eagles had a strip sack and fumble returned for a touchdown to take a 36-13 lead. It seemed like the game was on the verge of getting out of hand, but the Terrapins fought back, scoring two straight touchdowns to end the third.
Boston College was clinging on to a nine-point lead late in the fourth quarter with Maryland driving, but Perry Hills fumbled the ball at the one-yard-line with about four minutes left, ending any hope for a comeback.
All Boston College had to do from that point on was hold on to the ball and run out the clock, but it’s easier said than done. The series after recovering a fumble, the Eagles coughed the ball up deep inside their own territory. Maryland turned that into a field goal and a one-score game.
However, the Eagles held on to win in yet another exciting bowl game this year.
